Meet Ann
Ann Allison Akin, M.Ed., LPC, has been reaching out to help people in West Texas and Eastern New Mexico for 40 years.
For 25 of those years, she served as a Chaplain at Methodist Hospital/Covenant Health System, assisting those who were experiencing some of the most difficult situations in their lives. Ann has been in Private Counseling Practice for 15 years.
Ann specializes in Religious and Spiritual Trauma, collaborating with people of all beliefs to come to a place of peace and wholeness. She assists clients in using their own faith system, history, and personality to move through the healing process. She believes that hope can be born out of therapeutic conversations, giving clients a guide to form a path toward a healthier life.
One of Ann’s many strengths is her ability to put people at ease, which makes the therapeutic process even more likely to be successful. When clients come into her welcoming office, they are greeted with her genuine smile and caring spirit. Ann offers clients an atmosphere of safety, compassion, and confidentiality, while helping them discover their own strength and abilities for change in their lives. Ann is available both in person and online, with in person preference for the first session (if possible).
Ann and her husband, Lynn Akin, share five adult children and their spouses, and nine grandchildren. She has a passion for being with her family and friends, music, travel, reading, theater, and playing with her dogs. As a breast cancer survivor, Ann appreciates the gift of life that comes with each new day.
